Cannot connect to XBC games at all, probably router
Hey people, I'm a n00b here and asking a variation on a n00b question. I've been trying to connect to Halo 2 games, and what happens is that XBC gives FW for all the servers' pings and when I try to connect to any of them it always times out. I've read through XBC Help and read the sticky here already and they didn't help too much.
Here's the situation:
No, I don't have a software firewall, I have XP SP2 but I have the firewall off.
No, no antivirus program.
I have a Netgear RP614v2 router (with the latest firmware) with my computer and XBox hooked up. I tried setting both port forwarding and port triggering to port 8602 and my PC IP but they didn't work. Setting a DMZ worked but I don't want to do that. Anybody know what to do with this router? Thanks in advance.
Oh yes, and I did 'find' the XBox.

hey, im new to and am having the same problem... i forwarded my router ports to 8602.. and i turned my software firewalls off as welll. I still get disconnected from all the servers. And everytime i try to search for my xbox it never finds it.. please help

What type of setup do u have? If XBC cant find ur Xbox, u might have the wrong type of network cable connecting to ur computer to xbox or hub/device to ur xbox. You'll most likely need a RJ-45 Crossover Cable. Unless u have that then i really dont knoe whats wrong.

Well that isn't exactly the same problem I'm having, XBC finds my XBox easily enough and I've gotten the setup to work with the DMZ on. I just don't want to have to do that because of security issues. Comcast cable modem subscribers are easy targets! |
